Client Testimonials
August 2011 -

Clean, pleasant, nice balcony to eat on, spectacular roof terrace.Helpful caretaker met us and provided water, bread, milk etc. I could hear the sea at night from my bedroom. We loved relaxing on the balcony, watching yachts on the Aegean, golden sunsets over the Greek islands, and people swimming below us at the private sailing club. Our only frustration was that sadly we weren't able to access the sailing club beach and facilities, but instead went by 'dolmush'.minibus(cheap, safe, regular and efficient)to Gumusluk and Yalikavak, which was fine. Nearby (walkable) Arion Hotel, with good swimming, nice restaurant, and very good service, does good deals for a daily membership fee. This apt. is in a tasteful, quiet resort called Gumsan, mostly, it seemed, used by Turkish families in their own holiday homes. It is around ten mins by bus from livelier villages/towns and 'proper' beaches. We had thought the apt.was situated actually in Gumusluk, which perhaps would be better for teenagers or those keen to socialise. However I did relish the peace of Gumsan. The walk to the bus stop is up a hill..took about 8 minutes.Good exercise! I personally found it relaxing ( and greener) not to hire a car and to use public transport. If we had a day 'at home' we kept cool with the air con and frequent dips in the very nice nearby pool, where other residents were friendly but considerate. A nice, quiet base for exploring the area. Limon Restaurant, 10 mins or so by bus,is bohemian, with sofas and sunset views, and great cocktail bar! Gumusluk- ten mins busride- is laidback, with an island you can wade out to-and a nice place called Onion and Garlic- home cooked food on the beach- delightful! Also Jazz bars and windsurfing, plenty of fish restaurants and boat-trips. We swam off four islands on a memorable day out! A general tip: Take swimming shoes,as some beaches are gravelly or rocky, and lots of scarves to wet in cold water and drape around you to keep you cool! T ake masks and snorkels on boat trip! A big supermarket MIGROS,is by the bus stop, and has it all..the pastries are great, stock up before you get the bus..but I preferred the little local shop and simple cafe downhill, walking through pretty gardens where people from Istanbul chill out in hammocks, chatting and cooking. We found people friendly, if quite reserved, and helpful, had no hassle, and rarely heard an English voice! A lovely place. My first time in Turkey. Bodrum and Ephesus: maybe next time- when it's cooler
